Community Update – September 8, 2021

1Union Community:

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank the community for their support, patience, and cooperation with the Department of Health’s mask order.  Yesterday ran smoothly in our district, and I wanted to express my gratitude to the staff, students, and parents who helped make it so.  Our goal has been to keep students and staff safe, while providing in-person learning.  Your continued support in those endeavors is crucial to our success.  While we may have differing opinions on the mask requirement, it will help ensure that less students need to be quarantined and can remain in school, and minimize the chance of returning to virtual instruction.

I truly believe that one of the things that makes Union stand out is our community’s ability to come together to support our staff, students, and school district.  I count myself very lucky to be part of this district – both as the superintendent and as a parent.  There is no other community that I would want to raise my children in and no other school district that I would want them to attend.

I don’t always get the opportunity to tell this community thank you for all it does to help make our school district great, so please accept this letter as my way of expressing my gratitude.  On behalf of myself, the administration, faculty, staff and Board of Directors, thank you to each of you for your continued support and patience as we navigate this school year.

I would be happy to speak with anyone who has questions.  I can be reached at m_ross@union.k12.pa.us or 724-658-4501 ext 2301.

Educationally yours,

Michael A. Ross, Ed.D, MBA

Superintendent
