Elementary STEAM Night

During our annual STEAM week, we decided that it was time to get the parents involved in some of the fun and also give them the opportunity to experience our revamped library and STEAM Lab.  We had roughly 50 fifth grade students operating different STEAM stations throughout the school. Our students helmed the stations while the teachers and staff were the assistants.  For example, we had students teaching both parents and their peers how to use osmo, makey makey, sphero, google expedition, kinetic sand, button, and many other such stations. We also were lucky enough to have both the Carnegie Science Center and Clark’s Studio help make our experience more engaging.  The Carnegie Science Center taught our students and parents how to make ice cream using liquid nitrogen while Clarks Studio provided a photo booth! All students who attended STEAM night received a drawstring bag, take-home science experiments, and of course food. Finally, we were able to provide prizes such as baskets, zoo tickets, and a chromebook.
