School Update – April 6, 2021

Union Community:

The investigation into the message from earlier today has been completed.  At this time there is no threat to the district or its schools.  School will be back in session tomorrow (Wednesday, April 7) for in-person learning.

We cannot release specific details regarding the investigation.  However, we have identified those responsible for the message, and the district will pursue appropriate legal action against anyone involved.  While we do not believe the threat was credible, the district will pursue all possible disciplinary and legal avenues against anyone who makes any type of threatening statement.

The district will utilize a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) for today’s missed school day.  Students will be given their FID work tomorrow in school and it will be posted to their Google Classrooms for any synchronous students.

Students will have until the end of the school day on Tuesday, April 13 to submit the completed work for credit and to count toward their attendance.   Teachers will use completed FID work to track student attendance.  If a student does not complete the FID work, he/she will be marked absent for that class and will receive a 0 on the assignment.

We appreciate your continued support, and as always, please feel free to contact me or your child’s building principal if you have questions or concerns.

Educationally yours,

Michael A. Ross, Ed.D, MBA

Superintendent
